Subphthalocyanine (SubPc) is a compound with a π-conjugated skeleton, but has been reported to have a non-planar structure, resulting in high values for organic field-effect transistors1). Previous studies have shown that the introduction of alkyl chains with a large carbon number at the ends of SubPc leads to discotic liquid crystallinity due to the interaction between the side chains2, 3). In this study, we introduced alkyl thiol groups with different carbon numbers at the ends of SubPc and evaluated the changes in its liquid crystal properties.
