Chaotic microcavities gather considerable attention in the research fields of both fundamental physics and laser engineering. In the fabrication process of microcavities, it is crucial to suppress the surface roughness of the cavity edge for obtaining desired performance. In this work, I investigated the effect of the surface roughness on the resonance modes confined in a stadium-shaped microcavity using the finite element method.
