Chitosan nanofibers (CSNFs) are obtained by fibrillating chitosan that has high biocompatibility, and they have been used in biomedical engineering due to their dispersibility in water and high processability and film-forming properties. On the other hand, the difficulty in applying conventional microfabrication processes has limited the application of CSNFs to bioelectronics. Here, we developed a new microfabrication process and fabricated CSNF-based flexible electrodes, and applied them as a neural interface.
