The π-conjugated organoboron compounds, which exhibit high electron-accepting properties, are expected to be applied to electron-transporting materials. Our group has focused on the alkynylborane compounds in which dimesitylboryl group and anthracene ring are bridged by ethynediyl group, and revealed their optical and electron-transporting properties. In this study, we synthesized new dimesitylborylethynylanthracene derivatives with a phenyl group introduced on the anthracene rings and evaluated effects of the phenyl group substituents on their thermophysical properties and electronic states.
