To verify whether non-thermal atmospheric pressure gas discharge plasma (NTAPP) is effective for bone and tendon repair, we created several animal models and conducted experiments (critical size bone defect model, delayed union fracture model, Achilles tendon suture model, etc.). In all experiments, a pencil-type Helium microplasma jet with glass capillary dielectric barrier discharge was used. Our study showed that appropriate direct NTAPP irradiation increased new bone and promoted bone and tendon regeneration.
