Diamond quantum sensors have been actively studied for applications in biomagnetic field measurements such as brain magnetic fields. We developed a non-invasive diamond quantum sensor that can be placed close to the head of a living rat. We reduced the laser intensity noise by balance detection and obtained magnetic field sensitivity better than 30 pT Hz-1/2 in the bandwidth of the brain magnetic field of a rat. If a brain magnetic field is 10 pT, this sensor is expected to detect it within about 1 minute of interrogation.
