Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in nanodiamonds (NDs) have attracted attention as quantum sensors with high biocompatibility. Small NDs are particularly desirable for intracellular sensing, so we aimed to realize highly concentrated NV centers in NDs by detonation method that can synthesize NDs with diameter <10 nm. We report that high concentration of NV centers in DNDs were obtained without electron irradiation or annealing treatment, only with our original detonation method and 72 hours boiling acid treatment.
