We have demonstrated a hetero-core structured fiber optic refractive index sensor with alternating layers of poly-L-lysine and TiO2 nanoparticles fabricated by the layer-by-layer method. The surface of the multilayer is known to be affected by temperature and humidity conditions in the fabrication process resulting in changing the sensor performance. In this paper, focusing on the drying time after depositing TiO2 nanoparticles before the rinsing process, we have improved the surface roughness due to the extra TiO2 nanoparticles. Additionally, we have evaluated the sensitivity to the refractive index of the proposed sensor with this improvement approach.
