Organic semiconductors are attracting attention as semiconductors that can replace silicon semiconductors. Molecular orientation control is essential for high efficiency of organic thin film devices. Molecular orientation changes depending on the surface state of the substrate, but the interaction between organic molecules and the substrate remains largely unknown. In this study, the molecular orientation of pentacene vacuum evaporated thin films on rutile TiO2(110) with different surface states was investigated in two orientations [001] and [1-10] by polarization-dependent X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
