Electrochemical doping mediated by a newly synthesized ionic liquid ([TBDH][TFSI]) including organic superbase cations has been demonstrated as an effective methodology to create both n- and p-type carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with air- and thermal stability. Electrical properties (e.g., Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity) of CNTs could be modulated stepwise by the applied potential, i.e., charging of electric double layer formed on the CNTs surface. This doping method is applicable for the control of thermoelectric properties of CNTs.
