Calcium alginate hydrogel is a soft material widely used in food and medical fields. Its molecular structure is thought to be an egg-box structure with a divalent calcium ion atom as a cross-linking agent, and structural verification has been pursued for many years. In this study, I show that the structure that constitutes the gel can be extracted by immersing calcium alginate hydrogel in a calcein solution for a long period of time, and I show an observation image of the micrometer-sized structure.
