With the progress of wireless information transmission technology, optical wireless power transmission (OWPT) system with high power and long-distance transmission has attracted attention. In particular, from a safety perspective, it is desirable to develop OWPT systems with over 1200 nm wavelength light because of the low optical absorption in the retina. We focused on CIGS solar cells, which could absorb the light above 1200 nm. We investigated the effect of change in the irradiated area with change in the distance from the light source on the photoelectric conversion efficiency, assuming that the power supply target is a moving object. As a result, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the CIGS cell was not changed by changing the irradiation area. This result indicates that OWPT using CIGS solar cells is promising for practical use.
