Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) power generation is a method of generating electricity by irradiating radiation from a heat source onto a power generation cell. Recently, TPV cells with a power generation efficiency of over 40% have been reported, suggesting a theoretical efficiency of over 50%, and are attracting increasing attention. We have previously reported that photovoltaic power can be generated from TPV cells using a substrate cut from a 2-inch n-type Mg2Si single-crystal wafer, but the output characteristics need to be improved. In this report, the influence of substrate carrier concentration on the output characteristics of TPV cells is investigated.
