In this study, Co-doped TiNiSn was off-stoichiometric composition-controlled to improve thermoelectric performance. Samples were prepared by arc melting method. The samples were subjected to powder XRD and Rietveld analysis to identify the crystalline structure, and thermoelectric properties were measured in the temperature range from 80 to 800 K. The maximum ZT increased by a factor of about three for the off-stoichiometric composition TiNi0.87Co0.03Sn compared to the stoichiometric composition TiNi0.97Co0.03Sn. The increase in ZT is attributed to the decrease in ρ, indicating that off-stoichiometric composition control is effective in improving thermoelectric performance.
