酸化ガリウムの結晶多形の中でも5.2eVと最もバンドギャップが大きいGa­₂O₃と、2.2eVのバンドギャップを持つα-Fe₂O₃との混晶をミストCVDにより成長させることでバンドギャップエンジニアリングが可能である。混晶薄膜を同じコランダム構造をもつ導電性薄膜であるrh-ITO上に成長させ、垂直構造のフォトディテクタへ応用を実証した。
