Recently, Electronic holography that enables fatigue-free and natural 3D images is expected to be realized. Surface Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (SSFLCs) are effective in high-definition liquid crystal devices for electronic holography. Low-voltage and high-speed driving of SSFLCs is required due to the miniaturization of driving circuits. The mismatch between the applied electric field and spontaneous polarization direction in a tilted smectic layer makes low-voltage and high-speed driving difficult. We have attempted to reform the smectic layer by heating and cooling under AC voltage.
