Since the OPERA emulsions needed to be kept for a long time before their use, they suffured from the formation of latent image centers as noises owing to their exposure to ionizing particles. The technology to reset the emulaions named refresh treatment was developed by erasing the latent image centers. However, its mechanism has not been made clear, making it difficult for its application to other nuclear emulsions. Many experiments in this study has contributed the clarification of its mechanism and the proposal of the ways for its application.
