Electro-optic modulation (EO) combs are capable of generating microwaves with variable frequency and low noise. In this method, the control bandwidth of the feedback circuit limits the reduction of phase noise. To overcome this issue, we have focused on Si modulators, which can be integrated, because the optical path length of the EO comb needs to be shortened. The bandwidth of the EO comb was expanded and short optical pulses were generated by using nonlinear effects and dispersion control after the EO comb generation.
