nuclear fusion

Muon-catalyzed nuclear fusion has recently attracted attention not only for energy production but also as a new neutron source. Using precise calculations based on the latest quantum few-body theory, we proposed a new reaction cycle model and solved various problems. We detected X-rays from the muon molecular resonance state using a high-energy resolution calorimeter, which supports this model. With this model, the fusion efficiency is expected to be increase in high-temperature regions. Research has also progressed on extracting thermal energy and fusion neutrons. In this talk, I will discuss the principles of catalyzed nuclear fusion, as well as recent developments and applications.
