We have investigated low-temperature reduction and functional group control of GO films by atomic hydrogen annealing (AHA) and soft X-ray irradiation. AHA reduced the C-O-C, C=O, and O=C-OH peaks, whereas soft X-ray irradiation did not reduce the C=O peak with high binding energy in comparison with AHA. No difference in C-O/C-C ratio was observed, but there was a difference in the change of functional groups, indicating that the order of treatment (AHA → soft X-ray and soft X-ray → AHA) affected the properties of the reduced GO films.
