In the oriented growth of linear dye molecules on aligned PTFE layers through evaporation, a careful molecular design often gives not only extreme uniaxial orientational degrees (S>0.95) but also oriented J-aggregates. We reporteded the effect of end alkyl chain structure in a linear bisazo dye molecule previously and here will present the effect of head alkylamino structure instead. Slight head modification brings about the drastic effect on both J-aggregate formation and the uniaxial orientational degree.
