Neurostimulation technology, which is important in neuroscience and neuromedicine, is required to be completely wireless and battery-free. Here, we propose a unique technology that converts the weak photocurrent of a photodiode (~5 μA) into large enough current pulse for neurostimulation (>100 μA) using charging and discharging by the electric double layer capacitance of the porous carbon electrode. As a result of measuring the current in electrodes in prototype circuit, pulses with a peak current of 114 μA were confirmed. Therefore, it has been demonstrated that this circuit can output sufficient current for nerve stimulation.
