Biological molecules are post-translationally modified and can be the cause of diseases. Developing methods for identifying these targeted molecules is important. In this study, we focused on modified amino acid molecules such as methylation and acetylation of lysine, which are markers of disease. We performed tunnel current measurements using a nano-gap electrode device on these molecules. We successfully identified statistical features in the waveform data that differentiate these modified molecules from unmodified ones. Establishing a method for the single-molecule detection of such molecules is considered to contribute to the early detection of diseases.
