The perovskite-type cobalt oxide (RECoO3) was synthesized using the sol-gel method, and the high magnetic field characteristics of the metal-insulator (MI) transition temperature (TMI) were evaluated through electrical resistance measurements up to a magnetic field of 19 T. The TMI exhibited a parabolic decrease with increasing magnetic field. Higher TMI values were associated with a smaller second-order coefficient (A) in the magnetic field dependence. We will discuss the application of MI transition materials in quench protection techniques for superconducting magnets.
