We have developed an autonomous walking robot utilizing an amoeba-inspired optimization system. In order to acquire the walking behavior development ability where the robot autonomously improves the walking gait to achieve high walking efficiency, we investigate the estimation of the travel distance from the acceleration and angular velocity obtained using accelerometer and angular velocity. We also consider the way to improve the estimation accuracy.
