As technology advances in IoT, AI, automotive, industrial, medical as well as smartphones, PCs, the world is overflowing with tons of data. To maintain the trend of increasing bit density, increasing the number of vertically stacked word lines is one of the key technologies. And now the number of stacks exceeds 300 layers in the development stage. However, with the increasing number of stacks in 3D flash memory, some serious problems arise. On the other hand, 3D flash memory is expected to be applied to the artificial neural network due to its unique architecture, low power operation and high density. In this talk, novel technologies for higher stacking 3D flash memories and their application to neuromorphic computing will be presented.
