Lidar, an active sensor using lasers, is widely used to measure aerosols, which are airborne particles in the atmosphere that affect the global climate and atmospheric environment, utilizing various platforms. I will discuss the lidars implemented in a ground-based lidar network deployed in East Asia by National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), and their observation results and application research, and introduce the global aerosol analysis using satellite-borne lidar.
