LaTaO4 has been reported to have both tetragonal and monoclinic crystal structures.Among these, it has been reported that the rectangular crystal undergoes spontaneous polarization due to the displacement of La ions, with a value of 36 μC/cm2, which exceeds that of BaTiO3 by 26 μC/cm2.
Vullum et al. prepared LaTa1-xNbxO4by a solid-state reaction method and reported changes in its crystal structure , but the changes in dielectric properties are unknown. Therefore, in this study, LaTa1-xNbxO4 was prepared by a solution method different from the previous study, and its crystal structure, dielectric properties, and second harmonic generation (SHG) properties were evaluated.
