Polarized light imaging under polarized light irradiation can visualize more detailed information on the object because it is possible to acquire the action of many elements of the Muller matrix. We attempted a quantitative evaluation based on the surface condition (polish) of metal products in the industrial field using the polarized light scanning polarized light imaging method (hereinafter referred to as the PPPI method) in accordance with such a technique. As a result, we found that the smoother the unevenness distribution, the more the polarization resolution due to light scattering is suppressed, and the higher the polarization.
