In positron emission tomography (PET), the Cherenkov-radiator-integrated microchannel-plate photomultiplier tube (CRI-MCP-PMT) has a TOF resolution of 30 ps (equivalent to a spatial resolution of 4.5 mm), compared to the current fastest TOF resolution of 210 ps. has been developed, bringing the possibility of PET without image reconstruction one step closer to reality. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility of a new non-ring type PET geometry using CRI-MCP-PMT.
