NiO is a typical antiferromagnetic material with a rock-salt crystal structure, and its Neel temperature is high at 525K, making it a promising substance for antiferromagnetic spintronics applications. At the interface between antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic materials, exchange magnetic anisotropy (exchange bias effect) occurs. However, research on NiO has predominantly focused on (100) surfaces and polycrystalline thin films, with limited studies on interfaces involving the (111) surface. The (111) surface of NiO, being a nonmagnetic compensating plane with an in-plane ferromagnetic magnetic order, is expected to exhibit significant exchange magnetic anisotropy. In this study, NiO(111) films with varying Ni:O ratios were deposited by adjusting the oxygen flow rate, and their exchange bias effects were evaluated.
