To elucidate neural circuits, techniques for selectively manipulating specific cells are essential. Recently, optogenetic methods using probes integrated with multiple micro-LEDs have attracted attention, as they enable simultaneous and individual control of multiple neurons. For practical application, it is crucial to accurately understand physical properties such as the light irradiation range and temperature rise, and to establish optimal driving conditions. In this study, we systematically analyzed the optical and thermal characteristics of micro-LED probes aimed at selective cell manipulation.
