We have proposed a ultra-slow ion beam irradiation method to elucidate the hydrogen ion permeation mechanism in graphene. In this presentation, we demonstrate that the stopping potential for He+ ion beam permeation through graphene is determined by the work function of graphene. We will also discuss the evaluation of the permeation barriers by the stopping potentials for H+, H2+, D+, and D2+ ions.
