To address pollution, semiconductor photocatalyst ZnO was utilized, and impurity doping with chitosan was examined to enhance photocatalytic activity under visible light. ZnO has a large band gap and a high recombination rate of photoexcited carriers, making performance improvement a challenge. Chitosan enables doping with carbon and nitrogen, which is expected to enhance activity. This study investigated whether ZnO nanoparticles annealed with chitosan could photodecompose tetracycline hydrochloride and identified the chitosan mixing ratio that contributes to the improvement of photocatalytic activity.
