We fabricated one-dimensional (1D) microgroove structures on PDMS substrates with groove widths of 30-100 µm, heights of 45 µm, and inter-groove spacings of 50-150 µm. Chick embryonic heart-derived cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts were locally co-cultured on these substrates. When these cells were allowed to migrate freely along the 1D microgrooves, they exhibited distinct motilities. Notably, the condition with 80 µm inter-groove spacing resulted in the fastest transition to confluency. This study aims to control the directed migration of fibroblasts within cardiac tissue using 1D microgroove structures.
