[7p-N103-2]Current status and prospects of the muon cooling at J-PARC
〇Shusei Kamioka1 (1.KEK IPNS)
Keywords:
muon,muon cooling,muon accelerator
Accelerated muon beams have great potential for a wide range of applications, including fundamental physics as well as materials and life sciences. However, as conventional muon beams have poor beam quality, most of the beam is lost during the acceleration. Therefore, improving beam quality, known as muon cooling, is essential for efficient acceleration.
In Japan, a thermal muon source based on the production of thermal muonium and its laser ionization is under development. In this talk, I will present an overview of muon cooling at J-PARC, including its current status and future prospects.
