SnTiO3, which contains Sn2+ ions at the A-site, is theoretically predicted to exhibit ferroelectric properties superior to those of PbTiO3. However, controlling the oxidation state of Sn2+ is critical for successful synthesis. In this study, X-ray absorption spectroscopy was employed to investigate the near-edge structure of samples synthesized under various annealing conditions, with the aim of elucidating the valence stability of Sn. Furthermore, to clarify the effects of annealing conditions in detail, micro-Raman spectroscopy was performed to demonstrate the thermal stability and structural collapse process of SnTiO3. These findings suggest that SnTiO3 has potential applications not only as a dielectric material but also as photocatalytic material.
