KTa1-NbxO3(KTN) crystals are known for their giant electro-optic effect and are expected to bring about qualitative changes in electro-optic effects. The electrostrictive effect changes the optical path length of a KTN crystal by deforming it. Moreover, the strain due to this effect modulates the refractive index due to photoelastic effect, resulting in changing the optical path. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the electrostrictive coefficients of KTN to develop electro-optic devices. In this study, we measured the electrostrictive coefficients Q12 and Q44 of KTN.
