In this study, we prepared single-phase Aurivillus-type bismuth iron oxyfluoride thin films by fluorination of amorphous Bi2FeOx films via solid-phase epitaxy. X-ray diffraction measurements revealed that oriented Aurivillus-type bismuth iron oxyfluoride are formed near the substrate, while layered oxyfluoride BiOF are formed near the surface, and BiOF can be easily removed by washing to obtain a single-phase Aurivillus-type bismuth iron oxyfluoride thin film.
