This study investigated the effect of non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure plasma irradiation on the germination of rice seeds. As a result of changing the plasma irradiation distance and measuring the germination rate and coleoptile length, coleoptile growth was most promoted at an irradiation distance of 2 cm. On the other hand, a tendency for germination to be inhibited was observed at 1 cm. Using the ESR method, it was confirmed that plasma irradiation increases organic radicals within the seeds. In this presentation, the mechanisms of growth promotion and inhibition will be discussed.
