Trivalent cerium (Ce(III)) complexes exhibit blue or green emission based on transitions from 5d to 4f-orbitals. Among them, Ce(III) complexes with thiocyanate ligands have attracted much attention as photofunctional materials due to their high emission quantum yield (~91%). In this study, we synthesized Ce(III)-thiocyanate complexes with neutral ligands to control the emission wavelength. We reported photophysical properties of Ce(III) complexes investigated by spectroscopic analyses and theoretical calculations.
