Control of molecular alignment is a crucial key for enhancing the functionality and performance of organic photoelectronic devices. Dye-doped liquid crystals (LCs) are known to enhance the photoalignment behavior, however, the materials were colored with the dyes. Thus, it is desirable to develop a photoalignment system with a colorless dye for use in a wide range of optical applications. In this study, we explored the photoalignment behavior of near infrared dye as dithiolene nickel complexes with different alkoxy chain length doped LCs.
