Transition metal carbides exhibit high catalytic activity and are therefore expected to serve as alternative materials to precious metal catalysts. Conventional synthesis methods for carbides, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and carbothermal reduction, generally require complex equipment, creating a demand for simpler fabrication techniques. In this study, we report the results of various evaluations of metal substrate surfaces after ultrashort pulse laser irradiation in hexane, aimed at developing a simpler method for carbide synthesis.
