A III-V thin-film multi-junction solar cell is a III-V compound multi-junction type in which multiple solar cells with different bandgaps are connected by tunnel junctions. The solar cell layer of a single crystal thin film epitaxially grown on a single crystal substrate such as GaAs is supported by a film and separated from the single crystal substrate, and has the characteristics of high quality (single crystal), high efficiency (multi-junction), and lightweight and flexible (thin film). This paper reviews the applications of IMM3J (Inverted Metamorphic Triple-junction), which is currently in practical use, and discusses the direction of future technological development.
