Terahertz-wave parametric down-conversion using lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is based on induced Raman scattering via phonon polaritons due to strong near-infrared excitation light. So that, high-peak power lasers with wavelength of 1 µm have been used to explore terahertz parametric sources for higher power, wider bandwidth, and sensing applications. We are developing a 1.5 µm laser using Er,Yb:glass to develop a wavelength conversion technique traceable to a frequency standard. In this study, we constructed a solid-state master oscillator power amplifier for terahertz-wave parametric wavelength conversion and verified its amplification characteristics.
