In biosensing, near-field light is a useful tool for capturing fluorescence excitation and fine refractive index changes near the surface. In this study, we attempted to construct a combined system of waveguide mode sensor and imaging, aiming to make the sensing area of the SiO2 thin film/Si thin film/SiO2 substrate waveguide mode sensor simultaneously the target area for near-field illumination imaging. We found the possibility that using the particle size of gold nanoparticles adhering to the surface, the sensitivity of both waveguide mode sensing and imaging can be independently enhanced.
