Mid-infrared laser

Recently, the development of mid-infrared high-intensity lasers has been needed for because of the theoretical prediction of longer wavelengths of pulses as a method to efficiently generate higher harmonics in higher-order harmonic generation. In this study, we developed a Q-switched Er,Cr:YSGG laser. As a result, we succeeded in oscillating nanosecond pulses three orders of magnitude shorter than free-running pulses. This laser enabled excitation of Fe:ZnSe crystals with pulse energies of up to 11 mJ.
