The element-selective electronic structural analyses using soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) were applied to the investigations for the electronic and coordination structures of metal porphyrin complexes in solutions and the electronic structures of myoglobin heme irons in solutions. The structures of isolated water molecules in aqueous acetonitrile solutions, the mechanisms of polymer cononsolvency, where it is insoluble in the mixed solvents, and the hydration structures of lipid bilayers formed at the solid-liquid interfaces were investigated by the operando XAS measurements with the combination of molecular dynamics simulations and inner-shell calculations.
