The effect of electric field frequency during alternating-current (AC) poling on piezoelectricity was investigated in morphotropic phase boundary Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 single crystals. As the frequency increased, the piezoelectric constant also increased. In-situ transmission electron microscopy further revealed that the domain response at 0.1 Hz was smaller than that at 20 Hz, suggesting that the frequency of the electric field has a significant impact on domain behavior and, consequently, on piezoelectricity.
