We focused on the localized surface plasmon resonance-derived CO2 photoreduction using Au nanoparticle-supported p-type gallium nitride catalysts. The optimal annealing temperature for the preparation of the nanoparticles is shown to be 300 °C based on electrochemical properties, and the high reduction ability is attributed to the shape of the nanoparticles. The results are consistent with the results of analysis using the finite difference time domain method. The absorption wavelengths of the nanoparticles are at the wavelengths with the highest solar spectral intensity, and there are high expectations for their practical application in terms of the utilization of solar energy.
